Let’s Talk About Opening Our Hearts

~ Jafra Austin

A letter to Patrice:

Your intention is so aligned with my Higher Being that I’m prompted to speak further about what I see to be its outstanding value to the world in this millennium of great change.

I’ve watched our Earth, as if from afar, throughout 73 annual cycles of the sun. As an impressionable teen, I thought my heart would break when I witnessed, through photos, the massive destruction of Hiroshima actively brought about by men (though passively allowed by women).

Out of that horror grew a deep and painful concern for the direction in which humanity was moving. I’m NOT exactly proud to say that, for almost 60 of Earth’s turns around the sun, I’ve simply sat back and waited, feeling totally helpless about my vision of “the natural loving ways of women” gradually “taking over” to help heal humanity through the love we seem to more easily access than men.

I truly love men in all their unique respects. Somehow, their egos (and the ego’s frequent needs for “rightness”, power and control) have been “in charge” for a very long time, partly because we’ve allowed it, but also because AT HEART we have not fully realized the potential power for healing that we have at our disposal -- a more subtle, subjective and heartfelt means for effecting radical and positive change on Earth.

That “means” is our natural ability to “disarm” unwanted conditions through our indomitable courage to open up our selves to more deeply experience the qualities of Love and Forgiveness. These qualities offer their infinite power through their connection to our Higher Being -- a relationship that may not always be that accessible to “men in general”, at least at this moment in human history.

The true nature of our emotional courage, and the special ability it affords us, deserves to have a forum where we can (1) reveal it to ourselves and others, AND (2) where we can find the common threads by which we are all connected to it.

I did not realize until this day how much I needed such a forum to begin to heal myself (which is where it always begins -- with our selves) from:

  • the apathy I’ve allowed to lower the vibration of my emotional health;

  • the grief experienced from standing by and watching news media telling of children and the homeless dying of starvation for both love and food;

  • my fear of taking any remedial action and being thwarted;

  • my sense of guilt from having, through default, granted to the world’s predominantly male leaders the power to take our planet almost to the point of annihilation;

and the list goes on for a long way.

So many of us may share these long-hidden emotions that I believe that this forum, among its many purposeful and valuable intentions, can help bring us back from our almost universal sense of disempowerment into a new realization of the true power of women to bring about change on Earth. I believe that we’ve always secretly known we have within our hearts an incredible, indomitable power, but only with the advent of new shifts in consciousness are we beginning to be able to reveal our power to others through dialogue.

Many of us have already begun to find our courage to open our hearts to love and forgiveness, fully trusting in our partnership with our Higher Being. Thus, I see this forum to be a safe place to share both our stumblings and our triumphs we experience while attempting to hold to such a sacred partnership. Even though we work to stay connected to that spiritual Source, I appreciate so much that there is such a place of human dialogue, begun and managed by a woman of truly great and demonstrable faith, where we know we can find ready access to even more loving support as we reach to act upon our new set of beliefs.
