SONG OF HOPE

“Hope is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark.”

-- Anonymous

I am very much drawn to this quote for many reasons. One, it reminds me of sipping coffee outside, in the predawn hours of a new day. Suddenly one bird would send out his/her song.

“Hi there, little friend, so nice to share this new day with you.”

Not to be outdone it seemed, suddenly, other birds added to the chorus of our morning symphony. All shapes and sizes flew from tree to tree top as if in competition with each other. Much like us who greet each day with a song in our heart, they too sang a song of hope. Even when the night was stormy, with winds ruffling their wet feathers, they managed to awaken with hope and a song in their heart.

If we each will listen we too can find the music inside. It might be sad, sentimental, or even a tear jerker but I can assure you there is a song in each one of us waiting to be sung.

Hope helps us to float during times of trouble, stress, and heartbreak. Hope keeps us going when we are overjoyed, feeling happier than we have ever experienced before. Hope is the air we breathe when we feel we cannot go on one more minute.

Listen and learn from the song of the early bird before sunrise. He/she will teach you much if you will only take the time to follow the song of hope in each of us.......

“‘Hope’ is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all.”

-- Emily Dickinson

“Hope is the feeling you have that the feeling you have isn’t permanent.”

-- Jean Kerr
