It is so true that there is an inner patriarchy that values all things masculine and degrades all things feminine. I always wanted to do everything that was considered to be a man’s job and I hated the things known as the woman’s domain. For example I thought it degrading for the woman to slave in the kitchen all day to await her man to get home from work. I always wanted to be on the front line to prove to all that a woman can do a man’s job.

I have felt the rebellion inside me since I was a little girl. I see now that with these attitudes, women have become sexist towards their own gender. How ironic is that! And I now realise that it is acceptable for us ladies to also do the things that come naturally to us and not to be constantly focusing on proving ourselves to others. As long as we know that we are capable of many great things that is all that really matters.
