REFLECTIONS ON WHOLENESS

“One of the greatest moments in anybody’s developing experience is when he no longer tries to hide from himself but determines to get acquainted with himself as he really is.”

-- Norman Vincent Peale

Suppose you stumbled on …

your identical twin? She is ragged, dirty, homeless, sitting alongside the street where you live. Think about how you would react seeing yourself this way. What would your first thoughts be? "What the heck!" You do a double take, maybe rub your eyes, almost drive into a tree trying to park in your driveway.

Possibly you would keep going, around the block to check and see if you saw her at all. Now what if she was gone when you came back by?

You feel better about pulling into your own drive so you do. Dazed, a bit confused, you open the car door only to find her sitting on the steps!

Trapped with yourself, who is not really you, only someone who looks exactly like you. …

How about approaching her, finding out who she is, where she came from? Scary, yes. Still there is a reason for this happening. You will never know unless you attempt to find answers.

“There is no freedom like seeing myself as I am and not losing heart.”
