MAD DANCERS

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”

-- Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

In our day to day lives, we often notice how much happier others seem. They are the "mad dancers." The ones who hear music all around them.

I know of one man who works at our local post office. His image has never changed in all these many years. Friendly, outgoing, funny, no matter what time of day it is. Santa hat at Christmas. Mardi Gras beads during Mardi Gras. He is a joker and enjoys flirting with all the ladies.

Just spending a few minutes in line, while he is working, is a dose of sunshine. Soon, we begin to hear the music also.

We often make a habit of tuning out, turning down, or even shutting ourselves away from not only our day to day lives, but the music around us.

The unsteady steps of a toddler, holding someone's hand. Focused and determined to dance. A newborn baby, still feeling its mother's heartbeat, has already learned how to dance inside the womb.

The sway of last year’s wildflowers, turned to dry stalks along a roadside. A whirl of spinning dry leaves, all dancing to winter's song.

A ticking clock, sputtering tea kettle. Once upon a time, coffee perking in a coffee pot on a stove. The bubbling of soup or crackling of wood in a fireplace.

We often forget to listen to the music each day brings. Put on those dancing shoes and join the Mad Dancers Club. Do not forget to listen to the music around you while teaching others to do the same.......

Listening, learning, living
