LIVING IN POWER
“Imagine living without the
fear of loving and not being loved. You can walk in the world
with your heart completely open, and not be afraid to be hurt.”
-- don Miguel Ruiz
I received
an email addressing women and power. It said that true power is
for loving deeper.
Over the
winter I hibernated with deeper thoughts of women and men, our
differences and how we may come together in a better way. I
spoke with men from all walks asking for their thoughts on women
and power. One man felt that men were afraid of strong women. He
feared that a strong woman might leave him because he was not
perfect. This discussion led into so many dynamics that have so
very little to do with loving.
I believe
we all wish for the same things in love and loving, yet we very
often leave ourselves out in the cold by not loving ourselves.
What does it look like to love ourselves? We must dare to be
happy with who we are.
We are
taught to unconditionally love others ... it starts with
ourselves then the feeling goes from our hearts to others. We
need to learn to be happy now, discover what it is that we need.
Then and only then may we consider another and see their worth
and value what they need. We no longer need to be abused or
abuse ourselves in staying in something that is not good for our
spirits.
I found
the answer in achieving my own sense of connection with God --
not the wrathful one that kills, judges, and casts off as
unworthy but the one of the heart.
