THE HAND/HEART CONNECTION
“It’s not how much we give
but how much love we put into giving.”
-- Mother Teresa
Women’s
circles are never more vibrant than when they involve hand
crafts, knitting, quilting, sewing... Ultimately, the work of a
woman’s hands is not only creative but envelopes someone they
love, want to love or hope has enough love... lap quilts for
those in wheelchairs, red scarves for children who were once in
foster care (Red Scarf Project), prayer shawls for any need,
gowns and caps for preemie infants, socks for children in
Romanian orphanages, mittens and scarves for the Appalachian
Santa train, the AIDS quilt... the list goes on as does the
love.
Some form
of handwork/craft has always been my saving grace. Even when I
was not at my best, I had my handwork or world connection to
other women working with their hands. I now know why despite
major issues as a child and in my marriage, I have survived and
am at peace in JOY! For I am never happier than when I am
working with others around me on a project or process involving
handwork! No wonder knitting has had such a revival in these
times of stress and worry!

circle and comes back to us.”
