WHAT IS YOUR BIG ADVENTURE?
"You can't cross the sea merely by standing
and staring at the water."
-- Rabindranath Tagore
Hi Patrice,
On Friday, I'm off to New York City
with three dear friends. This is a grand adventure for all
of us, and it became a reality when we dared to say to each
other, "Why not?"
Sometimes, we may need someone else
to suggest that something is possible to open us to new ideas.
I want to share with you what Vicky White wrote about this.
May her words spark a big adventure for you!
~ Patrice
Your life reflects your decisions: what are yours?
The poet David Whyte asks: what is the
courageous conversation I am refusing to have with myself,
in my own heart and mind with regard to my work and the present
life threshold on which I find myself?
For each of us, there is a courageous
conversation waiting to be had.
I believe we each have choice. What
stops us living a life of adventure -- inner and outer --
is not making a decision about what we want. ...
On retreat you step out of your usual
environment and into a world of possibility -- your world
gets shaken and stirred and your fears don't stand a chance.
Surrounded by nature, in an unfamiliar world, you step into
a bigger world that doesn't know the rules you've set up.
Hasn't heard that it's not possible for you to live near
water, write your book, go on safari, experience Machu Picchu,
make different decisions about your life.
So you find yourself on retreat, fueling
that spark of possibility and adventure. You're with women
who are like you -- and when you hear their dreams, they
don't sound so far fetched either. You... realize just how
important it is to be with women who hold your dream, who
see you as who you really are, women you become friends with
who will not buy into your decisions about why you cannot
have the life you want. They will say: tell me again why you
cannot do this? with an expression of bewilderment on their
faces.
As you start to tell them your story
-- no money, no time, or something else, there comes a time
when what you're saying starts to sound just a little crazy.
Perhaps you really are as powerful as the other women see
you. You start to wonder with some indignation, just whose
life this is? And you start to realize you don't have forever.
You realize you can't go back to that land of same old, same
old. And you don't even want to. And you start to put one
foot in front of the other and before you know it, this thing
you had no idea how to make happen, is here.
You start to hear others saying to you:
I wish I could do that. You respond with: you can!
You've stepped over the line into a
life of passion, purpose and adventure and you rather like
this Self who was here all along, just waiting for permission
to step out and go for it.
I'd like to invite you to gather support
around you and heed your soul's call to adventure. It's who
you're here to be. You are not here to settle and you're
definitely not powerless.
So, what's your big adventure?

"CHOOSE LIFE -- only that and always, and
at whatever risk.... To let life leak out, to let it wear away
by the mere passage of time, to withhold giving it and spending
it is to choose nothing."
-- S.H. Kelley
